SPOTLIGHT

Meet Shanice Smith, a Software Engineer at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). She works on the Educate team, creating interactive, educational experiences for ACLU.org. Shanice graduated from CUNY, where she studied Emerging Media Technology and Game Design.

Before joining the ACLU, Shanice worked at Twitter. She also won 1st place in Liberty Mutual’s Best Equality Hack at HackHer413 2020 and Best Gender Equality Hack for SheBoss at MLH’s Hack Girl Summer 2020.

Shanice volunteers with groups like Rewriting the Code, Women in Tech Club, LGBTQIA Safe Zone Hub, and Women's Center at LaGuardia Community College. She focuses on making tech more inclusive for women and minorities.
