SPOTLIGHT

Meet Helen Hou-SandĂ, a visionary in both tech and music. Helen is a Staff Software Engineering Manager for Accessibility Engineering at GitHub. She is also one of the five lead developers on the WordPress open source project.

Helen began her career in music. She is a globally acclaimed classical pianist who has performed for audiences of thousands in major cities and venues in the US and abroad. After a decade spent as a professional musician, she discovered web development and WordPress, leading to a significant career switch. Her first job in tech was as a Web Developer for the Eastman School of Music.

She believes that the skills she learned and honed as a classical pianist have translated directly into becoming a leader in open source software development. She delves into this intersection in her talk titled "Helen Hou-Sandí: Code is Poetry - A Musician’s Tale."

Discover more about Helen by visiting her blog and exploring her work on GitHub. Follow her on LinkedIn and Twitter.
