SPOTLIGHT

Meet Shana White, a veteran educator with over 16 years of exceptional service.

Throughout her career, Shana has touched many corners of the educational ecosystem. She served as a computer science teacher, an instructional technology coordinator, and a Research Associate at Georgia Tech's Constellations Center for Equity in Computing.

Today, Shana holds the critical position of the Director of Computer Science Equity Initiatives at the Kapor Center, where she continues to blaze a path towards equitable tech education.

Shana's work is firmly grounded in her desire to make opportunities accessible to all students. Her work has led to numerous accolades, including being named a member of the Kapor Center Equitable Computer Science Advisory Board, a Georgia Tech Diversity and Inclusion Fellow, and a 2016 PBS Lead Digital Innovator for Georgia, to mention just a few.

Shana recently released Responsible AI and Tech Justice: A Guide for K-12 Education at the Kapor Center. This guide aims to re-imagine K-12 learning spaces, helping students and educators alike navigate the ethical landscape of technology.

Moreover, Shana announced that she is running for local office, for District 3 Gwinnett County School Board. Let’s congratulate and support Shana in this new endeavor!
